Salt Ship Design AS designs new Live Fish Carriers for Seistar AS

Seistar AS from Torangsvåg Norway, has contracted two new Life Live Fish Carriers with design from Salt Ship Design. One vessel with 2200 m3 and one with a total of 8000 m3 load capacity in the fish holds and a deadweight of ~12.000t which will be the world's largest of its kind.

Both vessels will be built at Cemre MARİN ENDÜSTRİ A.Ş. in Turkey and will be delivered from the yard in 2022/2023.

Seistar AS already has a fleet of three Live Fish Carriers and three Stun and Bleed Vessels. The new vessels will supplement new and existing customers with new tonnage to cover the increasing demand for treatment- and transport services, especially related to the post-smolt investment in Western Norway.

The parties have collaborated for a long time to develop the well boat designs based on gentle and efficient fish handling in combination with a strong focus on hygiene, environment and quality. The vessels have several new and exciting design solutions including batteries as energy storage and circular fish tanks.

In aquaculture and fisheries, the market is currently good, and these markets will be very important for Salt in the future. In addition to design-development, Salt will deliver a complete engineering package to Cemre. This is therefore a very important contract, which adds to an order book of 19 vessel designs under construction globally.
