Salt Ship Design has worked closely with Frøy to develop a new Live Fish Carrier, set to be built by Murueta Shipyard in Northern Spain. The vessel is designed to meet future requirements, with a strong focus on fish welfare, biosecurity, and energy efficiency.
The Live Fish Carrier will be 87,7 meters long, 20,6 meters wide, and have a cargo volume of 4.500 cubic meters. It features a fish handling system from MMC First Process and is designed for efficient operations with minimal environmental impact. A key part of the design is its modular structure, allowing for easy adaptation to new technology, including hybrid propulsion and alternative fuels.
Using data from existing vessels, the design has been optimized for lower emissions and better energy efficiency. The vessel will also be the first Live Fish Carrier to receive the DNV Cyber Secure (+) notation, ensuring high-level IT security. Additionally, it meets DNV’s Fish Carrier (Live) and DP1 dynamic positioning standards, making it well-equipped for precise and secure operations.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2027.
