New order for the next generation Harvest Vessel for Napier AS

Salt Ship Design has signed a new shipbuilding contract with Freire Shipyard for the next generation harvest vessel, Tauriko.

Building on the successful concepts behind Tauroa and Tautiki, Tauriko introduces major upgrades—including higher speed (up to 18 knots) and a new unloading system that significantly boosts logistics efficiency and reduces operational cost.

Designed in close cooperation with Napier, Tauriko will become the world’s largest harvest vessel of its kind, nearly 85 meters long and capable of loading and bleeding 200 tonnes of salmon per hour. Equipped with leading technology from MMC, Baader and Optimar, the vessel sets a new standard for fish welfare, biosecurity, and large-scale aquaculture operations.

We’re excited to continue our long-term collaboration with Napier and look forward to seeing Tauriko take shape at Freire Shipyard.
