Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) in Paris, France, has ordered a new Wind Farm Service Operation Vessel (SOV) based on a design from Salt Ship Design in Stord, Norway. The new SOV will be built by Cemre Shipyard in Turkey, and the vessel will be delivered from the shipyard in Q4 2018.
The 83,0 metres vessel has a beam of 19,4 metres, and will be operating for DONG Energy, a focused energy company with a strong renewables profile. The SOV is well equipped with Dynamic Motion Compensated Gangway System along with unique on-board logistic solutions and great accommodation facilities. Salt Ship Design will deliver a complete design and engineering package for the new SOV.
LDA is expanding their services and fleet for the renewables industry, and their key personnel have been working closely with Salt for a long time to develop a vessel tailored for the industry needs – in particular focusing on enhanced operability and efficient logistics. This has resulted in a very purpose driven SOV – and adding the quality focused mind set of LDA into the vessel design, she will become a unique vessel in her segment.
This contract represents an important milestone for Salt, and we are very pleased to enter the Offshore Wind Farm segment with such a great client and a quality vessel. The growing renewables industry represents an increasingly important market for Salt.
